History

Launched in the end of 2008, the SHIBARI SCHOOL has been created by Jérôme G. aka JG to share his knowledge and philosophy with the bondage lovers.

We started with the FRIENDLY MEETING (free entrance) : 4 events have been organized in 2009 : 50 participants including special guests like the bondage model Mina and some talented artists like Philippe Boxis, Antoine Savalski & Nicolas Yoroi.

After a break in 2010, the SHIBARI SCHOOL project is reactivated by Jerome and his friend Benoit : they do a public performance together and decide to associate their skills for more events. Later, Diane joined the team as rope instructor.

2011 & 2012 were focused on our partnership with the parisian club Cris & Chuchotements. After several problems with the organizers, the collaboration stopped (you can click here if you want to know more about the reasons) … we took the way we love organizing several free workshop for a limited audience.

After more than 5 years, Jérôme decided to close the SHIBARI SCHOOL : on January 2013, all the activities have been suspended due to a lack of time (click here to read). Finally, we won’t continue this adventure : the SHIBARI SCHOOL has been created when finding bondage instructors wasn’t easy. Nowadays, you can easily find someone able to teach you the basics of ropes.

We were the pioneers in France. We did our time. It’s time for us to leave the scene without any regret. Today, the small world of japanese bondage isn’t about sharing a passion … too many people wants to make money and this is slowly killing the beauty of this art. We know there are only a handful of experts able to teach properly.

Most of the people selling workshop are just fake : they think & teach badly, they discovered this art when the shibari became popular. We were there before and we don’t want to participate to a war of ego and lies. We just say : be careful … bondage can be dangerous when your instructor isn’t skilled enough.

Our website will stay online to share the images & movies catched during the early years. We have a lot of nice memories inside our mind and that’s the most important. Live your passion for bondage … without the SHIBARI SCHOOL which is now officially closed.
